Happy (late) Mother's Day!

Our Mother's Day was a little crazy this year. We invited a family from church over for dinner at 6pm and were looking forward to a relaxing evening with them. Sunday afternoon we got a phone call from one of the local missionaries. He wished me a Happy Mother's Day and I naively thought, "How sweet!" Then he fessed up and told me the real reason for his call. The missionaries had been given permission to Skype with their families this year rather than settle for the usual phone call home. Turns out the internet at the Church had gone out so they were wondering if four elders could come to our house and use our internet to call home. At 7pm. Well, what I could I say? I certainly couldn't deny the elders the opportunity to see their families so we said okay. Then we invited them to dinner as well since we'd likely still be eating when they got here.

We quickly called our own mothers to wish them a Happy Mother's Day with promises to Skype later in the week. Then we threw together some extra food so we could feed four hungry young men. The day definitely didn't end up being relaxing but it was nice. We enjoyed spending time with our friends and it was nice to know we'd helped the elders see their families (fyi - they're only allowed to call home twice per year - Christmas and Mother's Day). My, the times have changed since Adam was on his own mission to Singapore and he had to use an old fashioned telephone to call his mom. :)

I think this picture pretty much sums up their personalities right now. Charlie the stinker and Millie the giggler.

My first Mother's Day crafts from my kids. Charlie painted me the jar on the left and the picture on the right. Millie painted the picture in the middle. Thank you daycare/preschool for facilitating this!

Your kids are growing lots and lots and are so cute. You are nice to give the gift of Skype on Mother's Day. And it's great when your kids can make gifts for you on Mother's Day. So sweet.

We should Skype sometime when the missionaries aren't using your account. hee hee.

Just think that you have banked good karma for the day Charlie is a missionary and looking for a way to call home on Mother's Day. :)

Your kids are adorable, and getting so big!

Happy Mommy Day, Natalie! You are such a cute mommy! I think it's wonderful that you fed the missionaries and provided the technology for them to talk with their families. Choice times for a family and the elders! I'm sure you made four families soooo happy!

Millie is so big! She looks like a true toddler now. It really hasn't been that long, but oh how time flies and oh how fast children grow!
